ABOUT THE ARTIST - MONIQUE OLIVER:

I have been a professional artist since 2016 focused mainly on large-scale work for high-end galleries in the UK, EU and Asia.

In 2019 I was short-listed for the Creates Magazine Artist Prize and in 2021 won the Entrepreneur Artist Prize.

Since Xmas 2021, after experiencing deteriorating health which makes large scale work extremely challenging, I've been experimenting with creating my own jewellery.  I've strived for several years to achieve more sustainability in my practice and using left-over/recycled paint to pour acrylic skins which are then transformed into unique pieces seemed a natural progression.

Wherever, possible I like to marry the skins with stainless steel due to it's unique properties.  It doesn't yellow, tarnish or discolour AND it's ENVIRNOMENTALLY FRIENDLY. This is because the manufacture of stainless steel uses primary energy sparingly, saves non-renewable sources and limits the waste stream.
